😴 Sleep Reset

My brain won't shut off

Get Heavy ~2–3 min

Starting from the top, let each part of your body get consciously heavier:

  • Let your face go soft — jaw unclenched, forehead smooth.
  • Let your shoulders drop into the mattress.
  • Let your hands open and fall still.
  • Let your legs get heavy — like they're sinking into the bed.

Take one slow breath. You're not trying to sleep yet. You're just letting the body stop bracing.

Why:

When your mind is running, your body is usually braced without you realizing it. This brings the body down first — which gives the mind something to follow.

You've carried enough today. Now it's time to rest.

✅ Three Truths

  1. A brain that won't stop at night isn't failing you — it's a brain that hasn't been told the day is over yet. That's a signal problem, not a sleep problem.
  2. Fighting the thoughts makes them louder. The goal isn't to clear your mind — it's to give the thoughts somewhere to go so they stop circling.
  3. Whether it's your mind that won't stop or your body that won't settle — lying still in the dark is still rest. You don't have to be asleep to be recovering.
